A step-by-step guide to pressure washing

1. Brush away or blow any debris or dirt using a large broom or backpack blower, and remove any loose plant pots or articles from the surface. You then use water in your pressure washer to ensure any loose dirt has been blasted away before beginning the clean.

2. Softwash pre-treatment sprayed all over the surface before being left to dwell for around 20 minutes.

3. It is cutting the edges, using the turbo lance fitting on the pressure washer. The high-pressure nozzle removes the dirt with ease.

4. A surface clean hot wash. You are using our hot water treatment, sitting at around 90 degrees, using a different fitting which you run over the top of the entire surface to engage the three jet Whirlaway feature and providing your deepest clean.

5. A rinse down, to remove everything that was displaced by the hot wash. Done using our cold-water jet wash again, following by the manual job of ensuring the edges of the driveway surface are clear of any debris that has been pushed around by the jet.

6. The post-softwash treatment mix, made using sodium hypochlorite, which must be correctly mixed using our Dosatron, to the correct percentage – one of the reasons why we recommend bringing in a professional when using these cleaning materials and chemicals. This wash should be applied again using the pressure washer, and then washed and rinsed away. Should then be left to dry, ideally overnight and hopefully with no interfering rain.

7. The final stages involve re-sanding any cracks or breakages in the setting around the block paving slabs. If your driveway is tarmac, this stage won’t be necessary.Specialist kiln-fried sand should be swept all over the surface area using a large broom, making sure to reach the edges and deep into any cracks or damaged areas.

8. Finally, turn on the blower and brush away any excess sand. You have a perfectly clean driveway, ready for another summer of BBQ’s, visitors and bike rides.
